Meet Our Executives

Brian Murphy — President

Brian is the President of GFTC, LLC – DBA: General Financial & Tax Consulting, with offices in Cincinnati and Dayton. He specializes in state & local taxes in both the public and private sectors, most extensively in the manufacturing & service industries. Brian specializes in advising on multistate planning strategies aimed at minimizing state and local sales, use, property tax, real estate tax and business licenses. He also performs due diligence reviews, reverse audits to find overpayments and obtain recoveries, assists with complex tax compliance issues and resolves controversy issues.

Brian recently joined General Financial & Tax Consulting after working in the corporate tax functions of Taylor Corporation, Standard Register, WorkflowOne, LLC, General Electric, Reynolds & Reynolds and NCR and in public accounting with Grant Thornton and DuCharme & McMillian for over 30+ years. He has held a variety of management and analyst positions.

Brian has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Capital University, an Associates Degree in Materials Management form Sinclair Community College, and has taken extensive masters level coursework in business management, taxation & risk management from the University of Dayton, Washington Institute of Graduate Studies, Anderson University, and Stanford University. He is an Enrolled Agent – a federally licensed tax professional who specialize in taxation and have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS. He is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents.

Stephanie Roos – Vice President, Director of Compliance

Stephanie has been working in the personal property tax compliance area for the past 11 years. She has extensive experience in analysis of the financial and fixed asset records for tax filing and compliance for our clients including reclassification and various tax opportunities such as software, not reportable, engineering and pollution. She has completed personal property tax returns for multiple areas including; automotive, petrochemical, food processing, pharmaceuticals, hotel and banking to name of a few. She has property tax experience in every state that has a personal property tax filing requirement. She has attended national training seminars for widely used tax preparation software utilized by many organizations nationwide. Stephanie is a graduate of Wilmington College with a degree in Accounting and Business Administration.
